New paper on cardiovascular effects of airport noise
The results of a study examining the association between aircraft noise and incident hypertension in two cohorts of female nurses, using aircraft noise exposure estimates with high spatial resolution over a 20-year period, were presented in the recently released paper: “Long-term aircraft noise exposure and risk of hypertension in the Nurses’ Health Studies”. Highlights include: Associations between aircraft noise and incident hypertension were examined; marginally suggestive associations were found, adjusting for confounders; air pollution did not confound the relationships between noise and hypertension; modifiers were examined and found indications with smoking.
